Current Aspects of High-Intensity Interval Training for Patients with Cardiac Disease

چکیده
As an exercise training protocol in comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation, time-efficient high-intensity interval training (HIIT) has been investigated other than guideline based moderate-intensity continuous training. The scientific background of this protocol is that higher intensity exercise works to yield more improvement in aerobic and metabolic function by giving more stimuli to cardiopulmonary system and skeletal muscle. Among many combination of work interval, (active) rest, and frequency, most popular and evidence-based HIIT is 4 × 4 min. This protocol is the first one that has been investigated by multi center randomized controlled trials (RCT). In this minireview, we discussed the current status and potential of HIIT for cardiac patients by commenting on the results of recently published multi center RCT and review articles.

Effect of Eight Weeks of High-Intensity Interval Training and Moderate-Intensity Continuous Training on HRR at 1, 2 and 3 minutes and Lipid Profile in Cardiac Patients Post-Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
Background: High-intensity interval training is a new training method that has been less explored in patients. Aim: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of eight weeks of interval training with continuous training on changes in HRR and lipid profile in cardiac patients post-coronary artery bypass graft. Methods: In this clinical study, 30 cardiac patients of Tehran Heart Center...
متن کاملThe effect of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) with Quercetin supplementation on oxidative stress and level of concentric pathologic hypertrophy in cardiovascular patients after angioplast
Background: Hypertension induces cardiac hypertrophy. Oxidative stress plays an important role in the pathogenesis of hypertension induced cardiac hypertrophy. Exercise and Quercetin (as activators of Sirtuins) reduce oxidative stress. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) with Quercetin supplement on oxidative stress and level of concent...

Background: Non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. The aim of the present study was to examine the effect high intensity interval training (HIIT) with resveratrol supplementation on Cardiomyocytes expression of MFn1, MFn2 and OPA1 in NAFLD rats. Materials and methods: In this experimental study, forty-eight Wistar male rats wer...
متن کاملThe Effect of Eight Weeks of High-Intensity Interval Training on Cardiac PARP-1 Gene Expression in Methamphetamine-Dependent Male Rats
Introduction: One of the markers that change due to deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) damage and the production of free radicals in the poly (ADP-ribose) Polymerase-1 (PARP-1) gene, which plays an essential role in inflammation, apoptosis, and necrosis. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of eight weeks of high-intensity interval training on cardiac PARP-1 gene expression in methamphetaminedepend...
